Member of the Year
Eligible:
Any non-competitive member in good standing of the Wichita Figure Skating Club.
Criteria:
Must have demonstrated noteworthy acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior during the competition season. Must have demonstrated consistently good sportsmanship and ethical behavior in his/her daily participation in skating activities and good citizenship outside of the skating environment setting.
Selection process:
Nomination can be submitted to the Board of Directors for placement on a ballot to be voting on by the membership. A nominate can be done by any member of the Club in good standing. The nomination must include the reason to be considered for the award and accompanied by 3 signatures other members in good standing. If no nominations are received the Board of Directors will nominate 3 members for the ballot. Voting will be done based on you membership level. Family memberships will receive 2 votes and individual members will receive 1 vote. Membership committee will advisor the members on the voting status prior to
the ballot being made public.

Sportsmanship of the Year
Eligible:
Any skater in good standing that has represented the Wichita Figure Skating Club in a competition during the calendar year.
Criteria:
Must have demonstrated noteworthy acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior during the competition season. Must have demonstrated consistently good sportsmanship and ethical behavior in his/her daily participation in skating activities and good citizenship outside of the skating environment setting.

Skater of the Year
Eligible:
Any skater in good skating that has represented the Wichita Figure Skating Club in a
competition during the calendar year.
Two levels:
High – Juvenile and above free skate and free dance.
Low – Pre-Juvenile and below free skate
Criteria:
Considered to the best representative of the Wichita Figure Skating Club. Not only by their overall skating level, ability, quality and placements, but shows sportsmanship to all competitors. Also to be considered is the participation in non-skating club activities such as community events, (hospital pediatrics visit, River Festival Parade, etc.) and fund raisers. Club Hour participation is not required but strongly desired.
Selection process:
Competition placement with a maximum of 4 competitions non-qualifying, all qualifying and national events, point awards for community events and test pass. The top five individuals based on points will placed on a ballot for the club membership to vote on. Voting will be done based on you membership level. Family memberships will receive 2 votes and individual members will receive 1 vote. Membership committee will advisor the members on the voting status prior to the ballot being made public.
The results of the voting will be entered into the database. The database calculations are worth 1/2 and the club vote is worth 1/2. In the result of a tie, the tie breaking will be based on the database calculations.
Most Improved Skater of the Year
Eligible:
Any skater in good standing that has represented the Wichita Figure Skating Club in a competition or test session during the calendar year.
Two levels:
High – Juvenile and above free skate and free dance.
Low – Pre-Juvenile and below free skate
Criteria:
Must have shown marked improvement in their skating ability and level during the competitive year. Improvement shall be based upon tests passed and overall improvement in the skater’s quality of skating.
Selection process:
Test passed will be entered into the database and a point value assigned to it. This data as well as the data from competitions placement will be used to review overall performance improvement. The top five individuals based on points will placed on a ballot for the club membership to vote on. Voting will be done based on you membership level. Family memberships will receive 2 votes and individual members will receive 1 vote. Membership committee will advisor the members on the voting status prior to the ballot being made public. The results of the voting will be entered into the database. The database calculations are worth 2/3 and the club vote is worth 1/3. In the result of a tie, the tie breaking will be based on the database calculations. |
